Welcome to a new season of Generals Football!

Every year we are learning more and tweaking the program to make it better for all players, coaches and volunteers. It’s not an easy program to build and run but with all the great volunteers and sponsors involved the programs are improving every year.

Here’s a brief overview on the 2014 programs planned:

Youth Flag:
After a disappointing session last spring as far as numbers go we will return to Tuesday/Thursday sessions for this program. The kids that played had a ton of fun and it sounds like we have more interest this year in going back to the original days. If we do return to the numbers from 2 seasons ago I will need help from interested parents or from tackle players willing to lend their skills to help teach the next generation of players (this qualifies for any volunteer hours schools may require as well).

Spring Junior Tackle:
This will go if we have at least 20 players and we will cap it at 30. If we don’t we will have to pull out and wait until fall. We ran with less last year and it resulted in more player fatigue and consequently, injuries. It was also way tougher to coach and have the players learn specific skills. We need more coaches for this team as well. If anyone is interested or knows someone please step up and get involved or spread the word. It is much easier to run effective practices and manage players in a game with more help. Need not be wise in the ways of football but it does help.

Spring Senior Tackle:
After a great 2013 season we are expecting even better things in 2014. This team (those who can make it) have already been working out and participating in boot camp down in Wawota (Thanks to Coach Mondor for setting all that up!). They’ll be in great shape ready to dominate when the snow finally leaves us. I believe our entire coaching staff is returning so we should have a great group to lead the team.

Fall Junior (Parkland Junior):
Last year after schedules were set there were a couple of Manitoba teams that wanted to set up some exhibition games. It didn’t work out then but for this fall we may have a few more teams in the mix. Again, I’m looking for at least 20 (30 max) to field a team and coaching help.

Fall Senior (RMFL):
After last years dominating season where we had the #1 team defence, 2 league MOP’s from our defence and a divisional 1st place finish (seeded 2nd due to tiebreakers) we are hungry for the championship. With many players returning and some great new talent coming up, this team will be serious contenders and perhaps even a favourite to dethrone the 5 consecutive season champs from Dauphin.

The early bird registration deadline is March 14 so get your registration in asap to get the deal!
